May Members Meeting – Gail Crosman Moore

Wed May 18, 2022 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Monthly Members Meeting includes a business meeting followed by a presentation, via Zoom.

Business meeting, 6:30pm EDT

Chaired by Sarah Beardslee. Agenda: Membership, Volunteer opportunities, Facebook Group, social media in general, Newsletter, Programming

Program, 7:00pm

Gail Crosman Moore

Gail Crosman Moore will discuss her body of work, which has grown out of her fascination with seeds, pods, cocoons, shells, cells and eggs.

She uses the pod as a metaphor to illustrate the exceptional phases of life. Pods house seeds and hidden potential. Seeds emerge into life, meant to reproduce. Life fades, husks decay and are reclaimed by the earth.

This full circle serves to enrich her personal experience and emboldens her to share what she has learned and practiced with students around the world.

Gail Crosman Moore is an award-winning multidisciplinary artist and teacher. She earned her BFA from Massachusetts College of Art in Boston. Her work has spanned many fields and materials. Early on, she developed a lifelong obsession with the essential, ancient seed pod, which has informed her work in all media. Crosman Moore’s work has been recognized in many trade magazines including Ornament, Beadwork, Bead and Button, and Lamagga. Her awards include the Saul Bell in 2009 and an A.R.T. Grant. Crosman Moore’s many invitations to teach abroad include organizations located in Japan, Switzerland, Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Great Britain, among others.
