Good Luck Dolls and Sidekicks Workshop and Soul of Somanya Trunk Show

February 24 Sat @ 10:00 am
Author of four books (three of them on wirework) and five wire-work booklets, Melody has taught her distinctive jewelry-making techniques all over the U.S. and as far away as Morocco and West Africa. Her Craftsy instructional video, Filigree Jewelry with a Twist! came out in 2015, and she is a regular guest artist on Jewelry Television’s Jewel School. Melody was the winner of Bead & Button’s 2019 Bead Dreams Grand Award in the wire category. Melody is also the co-founder and director of Soul of Somanya, a fair-trade non-profit that offers paid training and steady, living wage employment to disadvantaged Ghanaian artisans.

For wild women (persons?) only, this is Mel’s favorite class to teach. Lots of giggling happens in this class as you learn to make “good ju-ju” dolls that hold infinite possibilities for colors…and coiffures. Then go on to create a fanciful animal sidekick: a horse, zebra, giraffe, sheep, dog—-or some whole new species of animal!

This riotous workshop will be followed by a lively trunk show featuring colorful West African beads and purses, as well as beautiful cabochons and stone pendants. Come prepared to shop and stay on to join the Bead In from 1- 3 PM. and bead with friends old and new! This is our first in-person Bead-In in four years. Join us for this landmark occasion!
