Jewelrymaking, Artist, and Storytelling in The Master Jeweler: A Novel

Love novels about talented but tormented artisans striving to be known and loved in a dangerous world of jewelry making?

Join the bestselling, award-winning author Weina Dai Randel, as she discusses her latest historical fiction novel, The Master Jeweler. Hot off the press, the sweeping novel follows a brilliant young woman’s rise in a perilous world of jewelry of 1920s Shanghai. The author will delve into the challenges of crafting complex artistic characters, the historical backdrop of the novel, and the underworld of gangsters and schemes surrounding precious jewels. She’ll also explore the enduring allure of objet d’art, especially the legacy of Fabergé eggs in modern culture.

Weina Dai Randel is the acclaimed author of five historical novels, including The Master Jeweler, released in June, 2025, The Last Rose of Shanghai, a Wall Street Journal bestseller, and Night Angels, longlisted for the Massachusetts Book Awards.  She is the winner of the RWA RITA® Award, a National Jewish Book Awards finalist and a two-time Goodreads Choice Awards Best Historical Fiction nominee. Her novels have been translated into seventeen foreign languages, including French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, and Hebrew. Weina was born in China. She lives in Lexington, MA.
