Kumihimo Workshop with Yin Guang, Ancient Moon Designs will be via Zoom with an in-person option for 11/21, the follow up on 11/28 is via Zoom only
Our November workshop is with talented kumihimo artist, Yin Guang. In this class you will learn new skills adaptable to future designs. The hybrid class will be Sunday, 11/21/21, 1:00-4:00, with a zoom only follow up. Your registration confirmation will include information on how to order the kit required to attend the workshop.
The technique used for this necklace is Kusari Tsunagi on a round foam disk. It’s 8 cords braiding, but the cord movements are different from the 8 cords Kongoh Gumi. We will use the template to guide cords movements. If you buy the required kit, you will receive the plastic template.
It is helpful to have some previous experience with basic beaded kumihimo braiding. However, if you are new to kumihimo, you can practice with the many YouTube videos that are available or ask for help at the November Bead-In.
The PDF instruction will be provided after registration. Please read it before the class and let Yin know if you have any questions.

We will use the template to guide cords movements. If you bought a kit, you will receive the plastic template. Please glue (Elmer’s glue) it on the back side of your small round foam 10mm thickness disk before class. (Make sure to find the 4 tight slots for the C & 3, D & 4 if you use an old disk.) Also you can print the template in the last page of the instructions and cut & glue it to the disk.
It will save time if you could string 6/0 seed beads, hematite beads and 6 segments fish, pearls to 4 S-Lon cords before the class, following the chart of beads and cords layout at the page 3 of the instructions. In the class, we will focus on the cords movements, braid tensions, how to add beads, charm to the braid and most important read the point of braid. Weight and bobbins are personal preference. It’s optional although Yin doesn’t use them.
