March Members Meeting – Beading and Healing – The Art of Fabulous Creations by Sébastien Carré

Wed March 16, 2022 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

This is a monthly Members Meeting that includes a business meeting followed by a presentation. Members get together, via Zoom at present; hopefully, in person in the future.

Business meeting, 6:30pm EDT

Chaired by Sandra Atlas-Gordon, BDI Recording Secretary.

Since recently retiring from my corporate marketing career, I’m happy to be a new board member of BDI and getting to know people who love beads as much as I do. Currently, I pursue my passion for jewelry via Wonder of Gems on Instagram, my curation of international contemporary jewelry made by talented studio artists. And, from 2008 – 2014, I founded and wrote The Wearable Art Blog that featured the work of over 500 artists from around the world specializing in handmade jewelry and clothing.

Presentation, 7:00pm EDT

Beading and Healing – The Art of Fabulous Creation

Sébastien Carré

Join us to learn about the artistic beadwork of Sébastien Carré, an exciting up-and-coming beader from Strasbourg, France. Sébastien will tell us how he got started working with beads, the thought process behind each creation, themes running through his work, materials, and his process. Finally, he will describe a necklace he created during an artist residency that helped to move his career forward. This talk will provide inspiration for all kinds of beaders and get you thinking about new approaches to your jewelry.

Specifically:

Sébastien will start the talk by an introduction about how he started to work in the field of art jewelry, presentation of some of his earlier work: subject, materials, process and concept.

He will focus then on how and why he started to work with beads and the evolution it produced on his practice.

He will discuss the themes he evokes through his work.

During the final part of the presentation, he will discuss the conceptualization and creation of a necklace he made during an artist residency.
